1957 Pontiac Chieftain Factory Tri-Power
We are proud to offer this two-owner, rarely seen 1957 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina 2-door hardtop with factory Nascar certified option. This car was purchased by Mr. Dalton Kelley on June 27th, 1957 from Morganfield Pontiac in Junction City Kansas. Mr. Kelley owned this car for 45 years until July 2002, when Ron Young of Arkansas purchased the car for his collection. Mr. Kelley ordered this Chieftain with the following options: Nascar certified option which included the 347/317 horsepower tri-power V8 engine, Strato-Flight Hydra-matic 4-speed automatic transmission, standard 3.23 ratio rear axle, 12-volt electrical system with generator, 20-gallon fuel tank (replaced during restoration but original comes with car), upgraded 8.00X14 tire size, vacuum assist brakes, and deluxe radio with manual antenna. Car also comes with a restored set of small and full hubcaps. Mr. Young decided to have a complete ground-up restoration completed on the car to bring it back to its original glory in May of 2004 and when the restoration was completed in August 2006, it was placed in his private collection. This car is documented with the original owner’s manual, original sales contract, original registration and inspection sheets, photo of original owner with the car the day he sold it to Mr. Young, copy of original owner title during ownership transfer, restoration photos from start to finish, and a copy of an article in the 1989 Smoke Signals magazine of the Pontiac-Oakland club international, where Mr. Kelley told the story of why he ordered this car and his journey with it. If you are looking for a great investment of a rarely seen car to add to your collection, please take a look.
